What are Flower Essences?

You may have heard of Rescue Remedy.  This is the most well known and widely used flower essence.  It is used for stress and trauma, for example after a car accident, before an exam or a dentist appointment or just when you’re having a stressful day. At these times Rescue Remedy will help calm you and soothe your emotions.
In fact there are thousands of different flower essences that can help with thousands of different issues.

Flower Essences work by supporting our emotions and are used to bring about emotional balance.  They help unlock our full potential, resolve negative beliefs and attitudes, assist in clearing blocks, and bring about harmony.   The essences are designed to help transform emotions, attitudes or patterns of behaviour which hinder our full development or potential.

Flower Essences are not cures for particular physical ailments, but can work very effectively on the emotions and attitudes behind the physical illness and can therefore facilitate remarkable changes in physical health.  There is often a distinct relationship between physical illness and emotional-mental outlook.

They have a reputation of not only being highly effective, but also very safe to use.  They have no side effects, will not interfere with any other medication or treatment, and if you choose the wrong essence it will simply have no effect.  While flower essences will work well alongside any other type of treatment they should never replace professional advice from a qualified medical or psychological practitioner if that is appropriate.

How to use Flower Essences.

The normal dosage is 4 drops under the tongue 4 times per day.  Try to ensure the dropper does not touch the tongue, to avoid contamination.  You can also add 4 drops to a glass of water and sip it throughout the day.  It is the frequency of taking the essences that increases their potency, so in a crisis situation, increase the dosage to every 15, 30 or 60 minutes as required.  Taking more drops at any one time will not have any stronger effect. 

What to expect from the flower essences.

Everyone will respond to the essences differently.  Some people will notice immediate and dramatic results.  Others appear to notice no difference at all, or only slight shifts in wellbeing.  Most people will respond somewhere in between.  Many people report general but noticeable differences with essences. They may feel clearer, calmer, or better able to cope.  Becoming aware of inner changes may take some practice. Often it is the comments of others close to us which first alerts us to changes taking place.
